Is LeSean McCoy a shady deal?

Well, LeSean Mc Coy has been unemployed for less than a day! After the shocking news that the Buffalo Bills cut him from their 53-man roster this Saturday, the Kansas City Chiefs immediately contacted him to organize a reunion with his previous Eagles coach Andy Reid.

The former Eagles and Bills running back LeSean “Shady” McCoy has signed with the Chiefs for a one-year deal, and 4 million dollars (3 million dollars guaranteed), according to various sources. The player has been in Buffalo for four years, but the 31-year-old running back was coming off one of the worst seasons of his career averaging a 3.2 yards per carry.

However, McCoy remains a great asset for the Chiefs. After Kareem Hunt’s shocking release last year, Damien Williams really stepped up to the plate and deserved his number one spot at the running back position after the training camp. But McCoy could help a great deal carrying the ball. Even with his age and low stats, McCoy could still be a serious contributor to an already explosive Chiefs Offense. Not to put any shade on Buffalo, but the Harrisburg native will have the opportunity to play with the MVP Mahomes this season and this only fact could change his performance. Around him, a whole bunch of great players remained in Kansas City such as Kelce, Hill or Watkins and Reid’s past experience with the back will also help finding the right strategy to use LeSean McCoy the best way possible.

But regardless of how many times he will get on the field, or what his role in the team ends up being by the end of the season, this move is very important for the rest of LeSean McCoy career. Not only is he now playing with a Super Bowl contender, but the fact he will be more a helper than a starter could also allow him to keep a profile low enough to renew his image.

The six-time Pro Bowler, previously coached by Andy Reid a few years back in Philadelphia is going to bring all his experience to this explosive young team to, hopefully, win the Saint Grail this season.

LeSean McCoy broke his silence on Twitter Sunday, just hours after he signed with Kansas City.

I would like to thank the entire Buffalo Bills organization, Terry and Kim Pegula, Coach McDermott, Brandon Beane, Doug Whaley, Anthony Lynn and Rex Ryan. It was a great ride and the #BillsMafia fans are amazing I am going to miss you. Excited to be a chief and back with ANDY!!”

“LeSean McCoy started his day as a Bill, ended it as a Chief, and now has a chance to try to help his former HC win their first Super Bowl together,” ESPN’s Adam Schefter wrote on Twitter.
